Patrick Kluivert (1976)

Patrick Kluivert (July 1, 1976) was a star player of Ajax, AC Milan and FC Barcelona, among others. The striker was known for his technical baggage and insight. As an Ajax player, he scored the winning goal in the 1995 Champions League final against AC Milan and was the all-time top scorer of the Dutch national team with 40 goals. Robin van Persie caught up with him on October 11, 2013 and has now scored the most goals for the Orange.

Kluivert started playing football at ASV Schellingwoude. At the age of seven he was included in the youth academy of Ajax and in August 1994 he made his debut in the main force of the team from Amsterdam. The then eighteen-year-old Kluivert started in the match for the Dutch Super Cup in the base and did this with great success. The striker delivered one assist and also scored once in the game that was won 3-0 against Feyenoord. Almost a year later, on May 24, 1995, Kluivert experienced the peak of his football career. In the final for the Champions League, he punted Ajax past AC Milan in the 85th minute. 'Het punttje van Kluivert' has since become a household name in national football.

After three seasons at Ajax, in which he alternated highs and lows, Paddy left for AC Milan for one season. After 27 games and 'only' six goals, Kluivert closed the door of the San Siro behind him and left for FC Barcelona. In Barcelona he then became the undisputed attack leader and took the league title in 1999. He also scored ninety times for the Spanish top club.

After seven seasons in Catalonia, the career of the striker was less successful. After 2004, Patrick Kluivert beat the same number of clubs in four seasons and decided to end his career at PSV.  He focused fully on his coaching career and is now assistant to national coach Louis van Gaal.
